The afternoon tour focuses on the historic foundations of the city, beginning with Native American settlement and the transition to Spanish influence. We'll visit all three locations of the Alamo, see the oldest unrestored mission church in North America, and the first designated historic district in Texas, where we'll see the German influence on this decidedly Hispanic city. We will see the site of the 1968 world's fair, and see two famous hotels: the Menger, oldest in the city, and the Fairmont, a 3-story brick structure that was placed on wheels and moved 6 blocks. This tour will cover approximately 8 miles and will include stops for discussion and a walking tour of Mission Concepcion.
